About

Kati J. Klitzke, PsyD, LP

Hello! It’s nice to meet you (well, virtually at least)!

I’m Dr. Kati Klitzke, a licensed clinical psychologist based in central Minnesota. It’s always more fun to get to know someone through random bits of information. You know, the fun stuff! So, here are a few interesting facts about me: I played collegiate volleyball and continue to play in a competitive women’s league. I dissected a human cadaver (legally, I should add!). I won a contest for neatest cursive handwriting in grade school. I enjoy spending time on the Minnesota waters and traveling to tropical climates. Tahiti is my favorite travel destination so far!

Now for the less intriguing, albeit still important information. You know, the formal stuff. I received my undergraduate education at St. Cloud State University, where I majored in Psychology and minored in Biology. I then earned a Masters and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I had a specialized concentration with the severe and persistent mentally ill population. I completed my internship for the Minnesota Department of Human Services at the State psychiatric hospital in St. Peter, Minnesota. I most recently worked at a clinic in a rural hospital setting for almost 7 years before starting my own private practice in 2021. I am a board-approved supervisor for the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy and the Minnesota Board of Psychology.

I have extensive experience with individual and group therapy, as well as psychological testing. I especially enjoy working with individuals who experience anxiety and adjustment difficulties. I strive to help others increase confidence in managing a wide range of presenting concerns by focusing heavily on skill-based interventions grounded in evidenced-based practices, namely cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies. My philosophy of care is to provide a welcoming and nonjudgmental space, focus on individual strengths, and provide honest feedback to facilitate change and understanding. I also like a good laugh and enjoy incorporating appropriate humor into therapy sessions!

Thank you for taking a few moments to get to know me more! It’s my sincere hope that you believe we will be a good fit to work together and I look forward to talking with you soon!
