What to Expect

A Bit About Therapy

Therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix. Rather, therapy is a healing process that necessitates your participation and investment.

Your initial visit will be used to complete a diagnostic assessment. I will ask you questions to gather personal information, understand your presenting concerns, and identify your treatment needs. A diagnostic assessment is required of all new clients and clients who have not received mental health services from me within the past 12 months.

During the next visit, I will review your clinical diagnoses and develop a treatment plan, which identifies specific goals that you want to accomplish in therapy, and I will review recommendations for the duration and frequency of sessions. This is also the visit when the therapy work begins!

Subsequent sessions are used to continually assess and treat your presenting concerns and update your treatment plan to reflect your therapeutic progress.
